JOHN HELD
John Held was born July 21, 1866 in Platte county, Nebraska and passed away at the home of his son, Ed H. Held at Fullerton, Nebr., August 10, 1942.
He was married to Louisa Marie Grotelueschen February 22, 1887. To this union eight children were born: Otto Held of Columbus, Ed H. Held, Frank Held, Mrs. Martha Cunningham of Fullerton, Ernst Held, Mrs. Stella Mueller of Columbus, Mrs. Alma Russell of Fullerton and Mrs. Anna Boyd of Columbus. Ernst died in 1910 at the age of 16 years. He also leaves to mourn his loss two brothers, Emil and Richard and a sister, Mrs. Mary Klug. There are 23 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He with his wife and family made their home on a farm northeast of Columbus until 1908, when they moved to Nance county where they spent seven years. At the end of that period they retired from active farm life, establishing their home in Columbus.
Mrs. Held passed away August 30, 1923 and several years later he married Louise Klanke, who died November 24, 1939. After his second wife's death he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Anna Boyd and for the past year and a half with his son, Ed of Fullerton.
Funeral services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran church in Columbus, Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. Herman H. Goede, pastor of the church will officiate and burial will be made in the Columbus cemetery.
