Mr. Maurice E. Reed, 81 of 211 Lawrence, LaPorte, died Sunday September 26, 2004 at 11:05 p.m. at Countryside Place, LaPorte. He was born May 14, 1923 in New Durham Twp., IN to Joseph and Mabel Gust Reed, who have preceded and lived all of his life in the LaPorte County.
Mr. Reed worked at Indiana Molding & Frame as a Machine Operator for 32 years, retired in 1976.
Also Mr. Reed worked at LaPorte Bank & Trust, now known as the Wells Fargo Bank as a clerk for 12 years, retired in 1988.
On September 2, 1949 in Michigan City, IN he married Melmore Miller, who survives. Also survives is his sister Dorothy Harvey Mesek of LaPorte, IN.
Mr. Reed was a Member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, Men?s Brotherhood of St. Paul United Church of Christ and a Veteran of US Army Air Corp. as a Sergeant during WWII. Mr. Reed enjoyed cars.
The Funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Richard N. Henry, Jr. Friends may call Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and 9:00 AM Thursday at Haverstock Funeral Home, until time of service. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, IN.
