LA PORTE -- Joseph W. Reed, 83, of Fountainview Terrace Nursing Home, formerly of 1015 2nd St., died at 11:10 a.m. Sunday in La Porte Hospital after a two-year illness. He was a retired farmer. Born Dec. 7, 1892 in New Durham Twp., he had lived in La Porte County all his life. On Jan. 14, 1920 in St. Joseph, Mich., he married Mabel Gust, who died Jan. 10, 1968. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Masek of La Porte; two grandsons; one sister, Mrs. Winifred Kroening of La Porte, and one brother, Earl of Westville.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Haverstock Funeral Home. Rev. William Bertsch, pastor of Salem United Church of Christ, Wanatah, will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home.
