Lloyd Henry Kraft passed away on Friday, February 25, 2005, at the age of 73 in Sioux City, Iowa, of an extended illness. He was born February 20, 1932, to Fred and Ethel (Hiserote) Kraft at Lynch, NE. He attended country school and lived in Nebraska growing up. He married Milet LaVern Rhodman on January 21, 1953, in the Methodist Church in South Sioux City, NE.
Lloyd served in the U.S. Army in Korea from September 1952 to September 1954. He was a devoted member of the Hutchinson-Liechty American Legion Post #546 of Lytton and Sac City V.F.W. Post #590.
Lloyd was baptized into the Presbyterian faith in Lytton and later transferred to the First Presbyterian Church in Sac City where he served as an Elder. He worked at the Lytton Coop Creamery for 16 years and also drove school bus during some of that time for special needs children, who were, so dear to him. For the next 21 years he worked for the Farmers Coop Elevator.
Lloyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. His family was always very special in his life and he loved taking his grandchildren on fishing trips. Mowing yards and driving tractors for farmers was something he thoroughly enjoyed. He bowled on a league for several years, enjoyed dancing, and in later years he watched the Food Channel on the television.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 52 years, LaVern of Lytton; two daughters: Lynn (Bob) Freeman of Sergeant Bluff, IA, and Dalena (Michael) Koster of Fonda, IA; a son, Roger (Donna) Kraft of Allen, NE; seven grandchildren: Jason (Karen) Freeman, Tom Freeman, Jason (Candace) Stacy, Crista and Kelli Koster, Lathan and Landon Kraft; four great-grandchildren: Lucas Koster, Madison Rogers, Skyler Coyne, and Logan Stacy; also a special sister-in-law, whom they raised, Marilyn (Larry) Mahler of Sac City, and special niece and nephew Kari and Travis Mahler. He is also survived by his brother, William Kraft of Pilot Point, TX; sister, Betty Carr of Alliance, NE; sisters-in-law, Betty Jane Kraft of Green River, WY, and Marie VonMinden of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers-in-law, Roy Rhodman of Richardson, TX, Elvin (Pat) Rhodman of Moberly, MO, and Walter (Betty) Rhodman of Sioux City, IA; two aunts: Grace Schultz of Phoenix, AZ, and Caroline Haynes of Butte, NE; many extended family members and friends.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Melvin; sisters-in-law: Lucille Kraft, Birdelin Rhodman, and Jeannette Rhodman; brothers-in-law: Bob Carr, Diedrich VonMinden, and Norman Rhodman; his mother and father-in-law, Kermit and Zora Mae Rhodman, nephew Gary, and niece Julie.
