Elizabeth "Elizzie" (Cartwright) Hutson was born on August 27, 1842 in Tennessee. {Her Death Certificate, which listed her name as Lizer Hutson, incorrectly has her parents as J J Hutson and Mary (Sutton) Hutson. And, her name in her obituary is Mrs Elizzie Cartwright Hutson.}

According to her obituary she was married to John Jack "J J" Hutson ( 1840–1939), the son of John Hutson ( –1860) and Ashley/Asba (McAbee) Hutson (1830–ca 1869).

Living on Sanders Avenue in Maplewood, Davidson County, she was 84 years old and married when she died of the flu at home on January 12, 1927.

Survivors included her husband J J Hutson, daughters Mrs Addie Hatchett and Mrs Annie Ambrose in Nashville, Mrs Kate Batey of Belleview, Tennessee and sons Noah Hutson, Bob Hutson and Alex Hutson of Maplewood, Tennessee and thirty grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on January 14th at the Hutson home, and burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.

Much of the above is from her Death Certificate, with W H Hutson as the informant. Additional information is from her published obituary in NASHVILLE BANNER on January 14, 1927.

Known children of Elizzie and J J:
~ Addie Hutson (1875–1960) m Edward W Jarrell; m John Reed
~ Noah Henry Hutson (15 Nov 1877-6 Jun 1963) married Mattie Cordelia Ensey
~ Robert "Bob" Hutson (10 Jun 1878-24 Sep 1954) married Hattie Mae Griffin
~ Alex Hutson (7 Jun 1886-8 May 1978) married -- Jarrell
~ Jennie Hutson (ca 1888- ) married -- Ambrose
~ Katie Hutson (27 Feb 1889-29 Sep 1986) married -- Batey; m Thomas McNeal
[1900 census for Eliza = 8 children; 6 living]
[1910 census for Liza = 4? children; 4 living]

[For whatever the reason, son Alex Hutson and his sister Katie (Hutson) (Batey) McNeal were apparently buried side-by-side, as they share an upright cemetery marker in Roberts Cemetery, and although that marker has the dates of birth and death for Alex, only Katie's name and date of birth are included when the cemetery marker photo was taken.]
