Walter Henry "Dub" Spruill was born to Walter Absolom and Bessie Tucker Spruill 24 Dec 1924 at Newlin, Hall County, Texas. He died 5 August 2019 in Amarillo, Texas.

During WWII he served as a PFC 1st Class in the 198th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Group, South Pacific Theater, Bismarck, New Guinea, Luzon as a Searchlight Operator and Marksman. Dub married Luella A. Walls, 22 November 1947 at Memphis, Texas. He retired from Southwestern Public Service Co. after in 1986.

He is survived by his wife, a son Eddie Spruill and wife Barbara, a daughter Cheryl Phillips and husband Jeff, four grandchildren Sonya Riggin, Michael Hulen, Danielle Spruill and Casey Phillips, 13 great-grandchildren and 9 great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings Cecil, J.C., R.V., Roy, Kara, Milford, Irene and Elmer, a granddaughter Trina Spruill, three great-grandchildren Chad Phelps and Brooke and Madison Hulen.
