Elmer Spruill, 73, of Amarillo, died Sunday, May 28, 2000.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Danny Lucas of Light House Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Spruill was born in Newlin and moved to Amarillo in 1962 from Memphis. During World War II, he served with the Army. In 1986, he retired as a crane operator for Asarco. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge.

He married Adeline Cross in 1965 at Amarillo.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Susan McQueen of Lone Oak, Carol Ann Stiles of Conroe, and Brenda Ruth Reed and Darlene Frances Clem, both of Amarillo; two stepsons, Richard Dewayne Simmons and Kenneth Ray Simmons, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Irene Brazel of Lake Palestine and Karra Wagner of Memphis; a brother, Dub Spruill of Amarillo; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to the American Lung Association.
