Marion was born on January 7, 1942, in, Macon County, Missouri, the son of Isaac Ely and Opal Belle (Hensley) Herington. Marion graduated from LaPlata High School and was later drafted in the United States Army. After serving his country, he returned to Lees Summit, Missouri and worked as an electrician for Western Electric for 27 years. After retiring, he moved to a farm, south of Bevier, Missouri and worked as a farmer. He was always willing to help out his neighbors and always enjoyed time spent with his friends at the shop drinking coffee and telling stories.
Marion is survived by his nephew, Eddie Woods, and wife Cindy of Macon, Missouri, along with several other nieces and nephews; and one sister Wanda Mae Wyatt of Bevier, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mary Lou Jean Mossbarger, Donald Lee Herington, Billie Dean Herington, James Franklin Herington, and Gail Edward Herington;, and one nephew, Robert Dale Herington.
Graveside services with full military honors, were held July 24, 2019 at the Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
