Billie D. Herington, 75, of Bevier, MO, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2008, at his home in Bevier. Billie was born on September 23, 1932, in LaCrosse, MO, the son of Isaac E. and Opal B. (Hensley) Herington. On February 4, 1966, in Miami, OK, he was united in marriage to Eleanor Bente. Billie served his country in the United States Army for eleven years, serving in Germany and Lebanon. He enjoyed working on trucks and heavy machinery. He worked on the railroad and also worked in welding and logging. He enjoyed boating, fishing and collecting statue horses. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; three children, Linda McElhaney and husband Robert of Callao, Duane Scott Herington and wife Tonia of Bevier, and Karen Craig of Bevier, MO; nine grandchildren, Lacey, Lee and Zachary McElhaney of Callao, Jessica and Timothy Herington of Marceline, Hillary and Kaela Herington of Bevier and Madeline, Asa and Mattias Craig of Bevier; two sisters, Mary Lou Mossbarger of Macon and Wanda Wyatt of Bevier; one brother, Marion Herington of Bevier; and several nieces and nephews. Billie was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Robert Herington; one daughter-in-law, Christine Herington; one grandson, Robert Herington, Jr.; three brothers, Donald, James, and Gail Herington. Graveside memorial services will be Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 10:00 am at the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO with Rev. Scott Dalrymple officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be in the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Bevier Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon.
