Janice was born May 26, 1942 in Chicago, IL and passed away June 15, 2022 at her home in Ringgold, LA. She lived in Illinois until her junior high school years when she moved to Shreveport, LA, where she graduated from Fair Park High School. Janice married Robert Ray Howell in 1962 and was married for 43 years, until his death in 2005. They had two children during this marriage. She later was married to Paul Sprawls, until his death in 2021.

She was a member of Victory Life Church in Ringgold, LA. Janice was devoted to God and her family. She was always dressed and ready to go to church. She loved spending time with her children, "all" the grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother, sisters, and friends. Somehow, in all the visits with her, there was always laughter. Christmas was her favorite time of year she saved all year to buy special gifts for loved ones and friends. Janice loved to cook her cakes were always a wonderful treat. Her house was always full for holidays, with plenty of her good food. She worked for over 20 years in the Ringgold High School Cafeteria. Many people called her Janice, she was "Cookie" to her family, she was also sister, daughter, friend, but she was Mama to her children. It didn't matter what you called her she was sure to touch your life. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Janice was preceded in death by her mom and dad, Maymie and Virgil Dubois; husbands, Robert Ray Howell and Paul Sprawls; son, Robert Ray "Junior" Howell, JR; brothers, Marshall and Don Ed Dubois; and a sister, Karen Freeman.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Barbara Elaine Howell Cox and husband, Dennis; grandchildren, David Joshua Thomas and wife, Alex Green, Desiree Luna, and Sadie Howell Wilson and husband, Kory; great grandchildren, Kimberly, Julio, Natalie, Julie, Marissa, and Desi Luna and within weeks, Deklan Wilson will arrive; step grandchildren, Graidey and Forrest Wilson; brothers, Kenneth Dubois and wife, Brenda and Richard Dubois, and wife, Carolyn; sisters, Nancy Howell and husband, Lee "Dub" and Connie Birmingham and husband, Terry; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be David J. Thomas, Lucas Howell, Terry Birmingham, Tarriel Poston, Tom Poston, and Michael Truelove.

The family wishes to thank: son-in-law, Dennis Cox, for going above and beyond for her care and personal attention, Dr. Scott Phillips, Minden Medical doctors and staff, Dotty Gross, and Passage Hospice for her care over last several months.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to Temple Missionary Baptist Church P. O. Box 521 Ringgold, LA 71068
