Matthew Green Roles was the only son of James Roles and Virginia Ann Beckner. He had 4 sisters-3 older, 1 younger. The family moved from Missouri to Arkansas when he was a teenager. He met Cora Cox and married her in 1907. They had 6 children-Neva, Lonnie, Jimmy, Myrtle, Vera and Jewelle. He was a carpenter at the Singer Sewing Machine factory in Truman, Arkansas. After his wife died in 1925 he worked hard to keep all his kids together. He married Martha in 1937 and eventually retired in Truman. He was a kind soft spoken man who loved his family. Would loved to have known you Grandpa!
