Wife of Captain Abel Moore & daughter of Revolutionary War soldier William Bates, Mary survived the Wood River Massacre of July 10, 1814 in which Indians killed two of her children, two of her husband's brother's children and the wife and two children of a neighbor. This gravesite is located in the middle of a soccer field, across the street from Gordon Moore Park in Alton, IL
