Fred started working at the Warren Featherbone Factory located in Three Oaks, Michigan at the young age of 12 until the time of his death. He was a whip maker at the time of his marriage and ended his employment as a foreman in the fiber room. Whistle did not blow at Featherbone Factory during Fred's illness.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR FRED GELOW WILL BE SATURDAY IN 3-OAKS
THREE OAKS, Jan. 27-- Funeral services for Fred Gelow, 58, will be held from the Methodist church, at Three Oaks Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. L.W. Manning will officiate. Burial will occur in Forrest Lawn cemetery with Masonic ceremonies at the grave.
Mr. Gelow died this morning at 6:30 at his home in Three Oaks. He had a stroke three weeks ago, while at work at the Warren Featherbone factory and another at his home last Saturday. He was born in Germany and has worked at the Warren factory since he was 13 years of age.
He was treasurer of the I.O.O.F. lodge, was a Mason and a member of the Methodist church. Mr. Gelow is survived by a widow and three children, Nina at home, LaVerne, a senior at Kalamazoo college and Kenneth, of Cleveland. He is survived by six brothers and one sister, Albert of Three Oaks, Herman of Hudson lake, Mrs. Emma Basset, Ernest, Otto, Walter and William, all of Kalamazoo.
The pallbearers will be W.E. Schmidt, Julius Rothsuchs, Howard Haman, Wm. Klute, John Kramer and Frank Holdred.

FRED GELOW PASSES AWAY
Death brought to a close the life of one of Three Oaks best known and highly esteemed men this morning (Thursday), when Fred Gelow passed to his Heavenly reward.
Mr. Gelow has been confined to his bed for the past three weeks, following a stroke suffered while at his work in the Warren Featherbone factory.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 P.M., from the Methodist church, in Three Oaks, the Rev. Leon Manning officiating.
Mr. Gelow was born in Germany, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gelow, Sr., on February 19, 1873. When a small child he came to the United States with his parents, and settled in this vicinity. He began his employment at the Featherbone factory in 1886, and has been a continuous employee since 1896, or 37 years.
Mr. Gelow was married to Miss Minnie Halliday 37 years ago. Three children, Kenneth of Cleveland, LaVerne a student at Kalamazoo College and Nina at home were born to this union.
The deceased is survived by his widow and family, six brothers and one sister, Albert of Three Oaks; Herman of Hudson Lake; Ernest, Otto, Walter, William, Mrs. Emma Bassett of Kalamazoo.
Mr. Gelow is a member of the Three Oaks I.O.O.F. and was treasurer of that lodge at the time of his death. He was also a member of the F. & A. M., who will conduct services at the grave. He also attended the Three Oaks M. E. church.
Pallbearers who will bear their friend to his last resting place in the Forrest Lawn cemetery include: William Schmidt, Julius Rothfuchs, Howard Haman, Wm. Klute, John Kramer, and Frank Holdred.
