Don Marlo Kartchner
January 15, 1934 - March 18, 2019

Passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019 in his home in Vancouver, Washington.

Don (called Marlo by his extended family) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 15, 1934. He is the son of Arza Royal and Ada Cooley Kartchner. He is survived by his sweetheart spouse, Eleanore Rosenberg Kartchner in Vancouver, Washington.

He was a man that believed in getting a good education. He received a bachelor’s degree from University of Utah, Master’s degree from Utah State and eventually received his Doctorate from BYU in Education Administration.

He spent many years in the Utah education system as an administrator at what was then Utah Valley Community College. In the late 1980’s he relocated with his wife to the Northwest United States where he lived in many places around southern Washington and northwest Oregon.

As a young man he fulfilled a term of service in the United States Navy. Spending his time on naval ships at sea or manning the signal tower at Pearl Harbor.

He was a lifetime faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spent time as a bishop in Tigard, Oregon and loved ministering to people on an individual basis.

He is survived by his wonderful wife of 63 years, Eleanore, and 6 children: Kerry Kartchner, Roddy Kartchner, Denny Kartchner, Alana Knutson, Lance Kartchner and Sheri Carmichael. He was blessed with 34 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service to celebrate his life is scheduled for 1 pm on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel located at 4760 S. State St. in Murray, Utah. A viewing will be held prior from 11:30 am -12:45 pm. His body will be laid to rest at the Elysian Gardens Cemetery in Millcreek. He left a legacy of love and service and dedication to his family. He will be missed by all that knew him.
