Obituary from Wayne County Press, 19 April 1883:

Charles M. Tibbs fell asleep in Jesus April 12th, 1883, after a long and painful illness of three months. He died of paralytic rheumatism, which he bore with Christian resignation.

The deceased was born in Virginia, February 17th, 1815 and emigrated to KY with his parents in an early age, where he remained until married. For forty years he has resided in Wayne county. He has been a member of the General Baptist church for a number of years, in which he lived a good and faithful Christian. His home was ever a preachers home, and his purse was ever open to the church. He was a father of twelve children, seven whom have gone before him.

He leaves a wife, five children and many relatives to mourn his loss. They have the sympathy of many friends. The services were conducted by Elder E.S. Ayles, of the Christian church. His home is made lonely and sad to his bereaved wife. May we all be granted the blessed privilege of meeting him where parting will be no more forever. Son of Jesse Tibbs and Keziah Tibbs
Husband of Sarah "Sally" Tibbs
Father of Elvira Elizabeth Puckett and James N. Tibbs
