Earl Glover, 83, Lawton passed away Friday, May 31, 2019 in Lawton. He was born October 22, 1935 in Elgin, Oklahoma to Jim and Hattie (Sims) Glover. The youngest of 10 children, Earl became known as Sonny. He attended school at Lone Jack School and graduated from Elgin High School. He later attended Cameron University. While growing up he took care of cattle and ran cows on Fort Sill reservation and farmed alfalfa with his family. He was an avid showman and had the grand champion Barrow at the Comanche County Fair in 1955. He ran a dairy with Granny Glover until 1959. Earl had one son Gregory Glover. He then married Suzanne Silcott at Comanche County Courthouse on March 12, 1959. She passed away December 28, 2012. They had two children Suenell and Oscar. They resided in Lawton on Fort Sill Boulevard. Earl was an auctioneer in Lawton and traveled 6 days a week selling livestock at Apache, Walters, Snyder, Duncan, Lawton, Mt. View, Mineral Wells, Texas, Wichita Falls, Texas including many others. He owned and operated the Lawton Stockyards and Earl Glover Real Estate as a broker. He owned Southwest Farm and Ranch Center, ran by Kerry Givens, and developed Green Meadow Acres. In 1970 Earl became instrumental in and began yearly auctions for Ducks Unlimited. He also was a supporter and auctioneer for the Saddle & Sirloin. Earl loved attending FFA and 4H livestock events. He was able to develop lots of lasting relationships with many children, telling them “ Bet you can’t count to five”. Earl was known for his larger than life personality and making a friend of everyone he met. He always wore a white shirt and blue jeans, cowboy hat and boots. He believed in hard work and the saying, “If you are healthy, you are wealthy”.
Earl is survived by his children; Gregory Glover, Suenell Breeze, Oscar Glover, grandchildren; Jarrod Glover, Chase Glover, Ostyn Abshere & husband Joe, E.C. Glover, Trail Breeze, Colten Glover and Sunni Breeze. He is also survived by great grandchildren; Anistyn Abshere, Ace Abshere, Sky Jones, and his last living sibling Maddie McDonald and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his siblings; Tommie Glover, Neal Glover, Jeff Glover, Junior Glover, Katherine Miller, Ruth Seals, Nell Stallings and Myrtle Pierce.
