Roy V. Bender, 91, of Washington Boro, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019 at St. Anne's Retirement Community. He was born in Lancaster County, son of the late Jacob and Ada White Bender. Roy was the husband of the late Doris Bender for 62 years before her homegoing in 2013. He was a graduate of Penn Manor High School and served in the US Marine Corps, (1952-54). He was a carpenter all of his life working for several local contractors. He was always very generous with his time and expertise in helping others with remodeling and other woodworking projects. He was an active member of the Washington Boro Church of God, teaching Sunday School and serving in various leadership positions. Roy loved his extended family and will be greatly missed by them. The Lord blessed him with a long productive life and he is now with his Lord in a better place. Praise His name!

He is survived by his children: David R. (Rosanne) Bender and Kathleen M. (Theodore Bair). Grandchildren: Kerie E. Bair, Jada M. Bair, Janae A. Bair, D. Craig (Ashley) Bender, Kevin R. (Kelly) Bender, and Jason R. (Torrie) Bender. Step-grandchildren: Kyle (Erin) Bair, and Jarred Bair. In addition he was blessed with six-great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son: Craig A. Bender; one granddaughter: Amie N. James; and one step-grandson: Trevor Bair.

The Memorial Service will be held at Washington Boro Church of God, 15 Rockfish Street, Washington Boro, PA 17582 on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Paul Habecker and Pastor Mark Habecker, officiating. Private interment in Washington Boro Cemetery. There will be no public viewing, however the family will greet friends following the Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: the Mission Society, c/o Washington Boro Church of God or St. Anne's Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Ave., Columbia, PA 17512.
