"Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Jeff Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
"Jerry Ray Steffey was born December 29, 1926 in Coleman County to Arthur Leonard Steffey and Annie Josephine Kelley Steffey. He grew up at Coleman Junction, where he attended school. He joined the United States Army in 1945, serving in the Philippines. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Jerry married Wanda White on February 5, 1949 in Coleman. He worked for Coleman Gas, Lone Star Gas and Enserch as a Service Technician. He retired in 1992. Jerry loved watching all sports; however, his favorite sport was watching the Coleman Bluecats play football. If he wasn’t able to attend a game, he listened to Bluecat Football on KSTA. Jerry was a member of North Coleman Baptist Church.
"Survivors include his wife, Wanda Steffey of Coleman; three children, Janice Rohacek of Coleman, Jeannie Lusk of Lockhart, Mike Steffey of Austin; one sister, Thelma Barkemeyer of Coleman; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
"He was preceded in death by four sisters, Ruby Sumerhour, Wilma White, Fannie Mae Calhoon, Hazel Snow; five brothers, Richard Steffey, James Steffey, Arthur Steffey, Doyle Steffey and Darrell Steffey."
