Vera Dean Nelson, age 64, of Melbourne, Arkansas passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007 in a local hospital. Born on July 15, 1942 in Memphis, Texas, she was the daughter of Henry Keys and Dillie Woods Keys.
Survivors include five daughters, Eileen Hightower of Batesville, Nancy Miller of Melbourne, Betty Lyons of Shardin, AR, Monique Pugh of Melbourne and Delilah Nelson of Cooper, TX; two step-children, Louis Nelson and Denise Heinze both of Hobbs, New Mexico; five sisters, Jean Turner and Kay Climer both of Bakersfield, CA, Wanda Nelson of Loom Lake, WA, Vivan Sadoy of Delano, CA and Janita Chaney of Texas; one brother, Archie Keys of Rosemond, CA; twenty-four grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 38 years, Kenneth Nelson; two brothers, Joe Keys and Curtis Keys and one sister, Lennora Chaney.
Graveside services are Wednesday, May 30, 10:00 a.m., at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Cushman under the direction of Willis-Hays Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pallbearers are her grandsons, Matthew Miller, Derrick Coles, J.R. Hightower, Bobby Patterson, Floyd Young and Roy Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers are Darrell Massey, Kevin Cornish, Rodger Pugh, Phillip Pugh, Mike Pugh and Nick Pugh.
Visitation is Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m.
