A Celebration of Life and Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019, from 2 - 4 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory - Atkinson Chapel. Private inurnment will take place at a later time in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri.
He was born January 18, 1951, in Atkinson, Illinois, the son of Lawrence and Loraine (Floming) Powell. Steve graduated from Atkinson High School in 1969.
Steve was joined in marriage July 29, 1989, to Gracanne Bjorklund.
He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After four years of service to his country,
Steve had a 36-year career with John Deere Davenport Works. He was a volunteer fireman 15 years with the Atkinson Fire Department, and enjoyed fishing bass tournaments, playing tennis, and playing water volleyball. Steve was loved for all his talents. Most of all, Steve loved his family and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Gracanne Powell; four children and their spouses: Chad and Kristy Powell, Brandon Powell, Eric and Laura Bjorklund, Kristi and Kyle Warrenfeltz; five grandchildren: Kayla, Cody and Kaitee, Katelyn, Christian, Alyssa; onr great-grandchild, Rossiee; a brother, Jim (Cheryl) Powell, Kewanee; a sister, Pat Urban, Geneseo; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle Roger, who he especially loved.
