Before Betty was born, Abt. 1921 the family lived on a ranch six and one half miles northwest of New Underwood. Eva lost her voice for about three months. "Clarence took her to the doctor and he said it was a goiter. The doctor sent her to a specialist to have the goiter removed. It was discovered to be cancer.
