Carl Douglas Hanes was born April 10, 1925 to George Marvin and Mary Alice Matney Hanes. He died July 21, 2004 at his home in Trenton, Nebraska. Carl received his education in the Parks and Haigler, Nebraska area. He entered the Army on May 10, 1943 and served his country with pride. He was discharged from the military on January 22, 1946, and returned to his Nebraska home. He worked for the State of Nebraska Road Department for several years. Carl was married to Patricia Doak on May 23, 1949, and they later divorced. His second marriage was to Frances Maxine Cemer Hanes on November 14, 1963 and they made their home on a farm in Stratton, Nebraska. Maxine was the widow of Carl's brother, Alfred.
