Arlo James "Buck" Thybo left this world on November 10, 2017, on Veterans Day, after a battle with cancer.

Buck was born in 1933 to James and Mary (Wicks) Thybo and grew up ranching in the Slim Buttes in Harding County, SD. He attended grade school just over the hill from his house. He graduated from Nisland High School, where he lived with Bud and Jean Sorenson.

Buck was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Infantry from 1954-1956. He came back to the Thybo ranch, and married Karen Steele (who passed away in 1976). He continued to ranch, breed quarter horses, and broke many horses.

He enjoyed loading up most Sundays and going to the area team ropings. Buck was known for his good heart, teasing, kidding and good humor. He enjoyed his friends and having a good drink and a good time. He had many talents; he was an auctioneer, pilot, bar owner, and a truck driver besides ranching. He loved a good bucking horse.

He is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen; parents, James and Mary Thybo; and 2 sisters, Marge Wulf and Elaine Larson.
