James V. McClellan, age 74, of Eaton, Ohio, passed away Friday afternoon, June 8, 2007, following a lengthy illness.

Born April 18, 1933, in New Hope, Ohio, to the late Frank P. and Fannie (Wysong) McClellan.

Serving for a short time in the U.S. Navy, he retired after 30 years from West Vaco Corporation and had also worked as a farmer for 15 years.

Former member of the Eaton Eagles and American Legion Post 215 of Eaton.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by first wife, Donnabelle; and seven brothers and sisters.

Survived by wife, Belladonna (Myers) McClellan whom he married June 3, 1953: children, Judi Combs and husband Thomas of Letcher, Ky., Peggy Clinard and husband Wayne of New Lebanon, Brenda Gullett and husband Dale of Jacksonville, Fla., Lola Herndon and husband Dion of Salem, Iowa, James McClellan Jr. of Eaton, William F. McClellan and wife Angie of Eaton, and Nettie "Freddie" Hatfield and husband Keith of Richmond, Ind.; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, John McClellan and wife Anna Mae of Eaton, Earl McClellan and wife Virginia of Richmond; sisters, Alice Fugate of Lewisburg, Ohio, and Mary Baker of Oxford, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens, 3377 U.S. Rt. 35, West Alexandria. Pastor Lowell Spencer presiding. Friends may call on the family from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery, West Alexandria.
