Wilma G. Zehner Banasiak, 88, died Sunday, December 17, 2000 in her home. She was born September 30, 1912 in Monterey, Indiana to the late Franklin and Edith (Butcher) Calhoun.
Mrs. Banasiak was a mast member of the board of directors of the Council on Aging, Starke County Historical Society, and the Starke County Humane Society and was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Rosary Society.
She is survived by two daughters, Joy Holt of Knox, Diana Crider of Crown Point; one son, Frederick Zehner, of Portage; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; and four step-children: Gloria Piarowski of Chicago, Lois Koch of Chicago, Richard Banasiak of Chicago, and Phil Banasiak of Knox.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis Zehner, in 1962 and her second husband, Leo Banasiak, in 1971.
Services were held Wednesday, December 20 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Knox. Burial was in St. Anne's Cemetery, Monterey, Indiana. Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox.
