Bobby Dalton
May 13, 1927 — March 16, 2019

On March 16, 2019, at the age of 91, Bobby Dalton went home to the Lord to join the love of his life, Odette, his wife of 56 years. He had missed her greatly for the last two years after her unexpected death in 2017.

Born in Oklahoma, his family was forced to move to California during the Dust Bowl Era. The whole family moved to Rockville where he attended school in the one-room school on Suisun Valley Road. His father died when he was young so he had to work to make money to put food on the table to feed his family.

Joining the military as a young adult, Bobby served in the Coast Guard, Army and Air Force. His 20-year-service career spanned through three wars: WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He served in Okinawa, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, France and Alaska. During his military career he worked on jet engines and operated heavy equipment. While stationed in France, he met his beloved Odette, the mother of his child, Conny. In 1962, the couple was transferred from France with their child and his stepdaughter, Claudine, to Fairchild AFB in Washington, then to Travis AFB in Fairfield, where he has resided for the last 52 years.

His wife and family meant the world to him. Bobby loved horses, including wild mustangs, and dogs, especially German shepherds. After retiring from the Air Force he enjoyed traveling and cruising with his wife. Occasionally going to visit his sister-in-law and brother-in-law in France. He enjoyed working with his hands especially with wood. His house is filled with his detailed woodwork.

He is survived by his daughter, Conny; stepdaughter, Claudine; his respective sons-in-law, Roger Oberbeck and Phillip Abrams; grandson, Brandon; step-granddaughters, Kyla and Tara; a new step-great-grandson, Amare; and service dog, Bruno.

Friends and family are invited to participate in Bobby’s departure services at 2 p.m. Thursday, March [April] 4, 2019, at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, California.

Byran-Braker Funeral Home of Fairfield was entrusted with his final arrangements.
