December 12, 1923 - November 7, 2018
Irene was born in Ellis, Kansas to Rosa and Andreas Bieker. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband David Keller, Jr., their son David Lee Keller and 14 brothers and sisters.
She is survived and deeply loved by daughter Norma Jean (Kelley) Antony, son Donald Eugene Keller (Judy), daughter Kathleen Rose Varnado, ten grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Agnes Bieker and numerous nieces and nephews.
Irene was blessed with many qualities consistent with being the youngest of 15 children. She was selfless and non-judgmental. Her strength of character showed itself as a kind of contagious calm serenity. Her love of, and fascination by, people were real. Irene could happily sit for hours, quietly observing her grandkids at play. But when approached to show or tell her something, she'd really light up.
She loved a good laugh with friends and enjoyed outings and family gatherings to the limits of her physical endurance. She loved to reminisce with anecdotes from her life that ranged from making munitions during WWII, to the years spent "driving truck" with her husband as an OTR team. She never had an unkind word for anybody, a feat made more remarkable by the fact that she was an avid fan of the Colorado Rockies. Irene was a giver, not a taker - she will be greatly missed
In lieu of flowers, contributions payable to TRU Community Hospice Care or Brighton Eagle View Senior Center will be gratefully accepted and acknowledged by the family.
