Mr. Earl Bridges, age 80 of Lovelady, after a long illness passed away Monday, April 23, 2007 in the East Texas Medical Center-Tyler. Mr. Bridges was born December 6, 1926 in Houston County and was raised in Pearsons Chapel. Mr. Bridges had been living in the Lovelady area for the past 30 years. Mr. Bridges was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during World War II. Mr. Bridges was retired from the Lovelady I. S. D. where he had worked in the maintenance department and was also a rancher. Mr. Bridges had attended the Lovelady Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Bridges will be truly missed by many family members and friends.
Survivors include his wife Agnes Lorraine Bridges, of Lovelady; sons Kenneth Bridges and wife Nancy, of Needville, Jon Bridges and wife Sara, of Houston; daughter Sharon Jenkins and husband Bob, of Sugar Land; grandchildren Kenny Bridges II and wife Sharon, of Killeen, Crystal Smith and husband Robert, of Houston, Amanda Maddings, of Sugar Land, Sgt. Ryan Maddings, of Oceanside, Calif.; six great-grandchildren; sisters Eloise Adams and husband Walter, of Kennard, Joyce Adams and husband Chester, Hilda Adams and husband Mack and Geraldine Gardner, all of Lovelady; brother Garland Bridges and wife Nancy of Spring; sisters-in-law Juanita Bridges, of Lovelady and Sandra Bridges of Sulphur Springs; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his brothers Howard Bridges and Terrell Bridges.
Funeral Services for Mr. Earl Bridges were held Thursday, April 26, at 10:00 a.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Charles Butler officiating.
Military graveside services followed at 3:00 p.m. in the Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.
