Our loving mother, Claudia JoAnne Thorn Marchant, returned to Heavenly Father on March 21, 2019 in Millcreek at age eighty-five of natural causes.
Born August 23, 1933 in Springville to Vernille Erastus and Bessie (Whitney) Thorn.
Survived by Kenneth T. Marchant, Dale T. Marchant, Ruth (Kris) Oliverson, Cathy (Stan) Bohman, Patricia (David) Garce, Linda Marchant, fourteen grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her mother; father; sister, Valene Bateman; and brothers, Erwin, Eugene, and Raymond Thorn.
Our mother was a kind, quiet person with a gentle soul. She never gossiped or spoke ill of others. She was very determined and once she made up her mind, that’s the way things had to be. Her home, family, and appearance were important and she took great care of all of them. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and every minute she spent with them. She equally loved the time spent with all her aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, had great faith, and served diligently in all her church callings. She loved music and singing in ward choirs for many years, and always dreamed of singing in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Now she can sing in Heaven’s choir.
We love you, Mom, and will be forever grateful for all the time and devotion you spent on us.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in the Union Fort Fifth Ward Chapel, 6770 South 500 East, with a viewing one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Sandy City Cemetery.
