Ray Newton White, or Buck, to his many family and friends, was born on Monday, June 16th, 1930 in Ft. Gibson, OK, the son of Harmon and Alice (Lamons) White. He grew up in a family with three brothers and two sisters, Raymond, Charlie, George, Carrie and Sarah. He attended school then began his working career early, as was customary in the day, as a steel worker at the Iron Works in Muskogee and also worked at Brockway Glass Company. He was a hardworking man, always keeping busy with chores of one kind or another, baling hay, tilling soil. He was mechanically minded and worked on engines of all types and could assemble anything mechanical. He met and married the love of his life, Maggie Mae, and together they set up housekeeping in Tahlequah. When they weren’t working at raising their kids, David and Sharon, they enjoyed an evening of dancing. Buck was a quiet man; he kept to himself, and enjoyed life just the way he found it, one day at a time. Buck and his wife attended the First Baptist Church of Ft. Gibson and always looked forward to a visit from the grandchildren they loved so much. Maggie passed from this life on March 25th, 2009, Buck continued farming until his health was no longer able to keep up. The Lord called this hard working man home from his many labors on Monday, March 18th, 2019 in Tahlequah, OK. He was 88 years old and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, wife Maggie, three brothers, Raymond, Charlie, and George White and one sister, Sarah Farguson.
He is survived by his sister, Carrie Farguson of Stilwell, OK and lives on in his four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
