A Shipwright, Nathaniel immigrated from Nova Scotia arriving at Eastport, ME on June 1, 1845 and filed a petition for citizenship on Oct. 17, 1885. In the interim he married Pauline Adelaide McDonald, the daughter of Donald and Nancy (Bryant) before the 1854 birth of their first child Everard. Additional children included Harriet, born in 1857; Adelbert, born in 1862 and died in 1863; Willard, born in 1864; Charles, born in 1866; and Arthur, born in 1872 and died in 1875.

Nathaniel worked in the shipyards in East Boston and resided in that section of the city, including in 1900 when he lived 216 Webster St. After 1900 he and his wife resided at 102 Brooks St., Medford where Pauline died in 1906.
