Harry Carter Howell was born on January 2, 1877 in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of James Lawson Howell (1847–1918) and Alice Ann (Corbett) Howell (1847–1922).
He was married in 1896 to Nancy Isabella "Belle" (Evins) Howell (1875–1961), the daughter of Starling Columbus Evins (1852–1930) and Mary Ann (Beasley) Evins (1859–1935).
A general building contractor living at at 200 Antioch Pike in Nashville, Harry was 71 years old and married when he had a cerebral hemorrhage and died of bronchopneumonia on March 25, 1948 at Madison Sanitarium & Hospital, where he had been for five days. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery, Madison {city, not county}.
