Ophelia Eudora (Howell) Evins was born on April 27, 1878 in Tennessee, the daughter of James Lawson Howell (1847–1918) and Alice Ann (Corbett) Howell (1847–1922).

She was married to Simeon Washington "S W" Evins (1892–1941), the son of Starling Columbus Evins (1852–1930) and Mary Ann (Beasley) Evins (1859–1935).

Ophelia had been a saleslady and was a member of Waverly Place Methodist Church. Living in Nashville, she was 85 years old and a widow when she died of arteriosclerosis on August 9, 1963 at Nashville's Central State Hospital, where she had been for almost two months.

Survivors included daughter Mrs Paul Hinds and sister Mrs James Preston of Nashville, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on August 12th and arranged by Finley Dorris & Charlton Funeral Home, and burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
