Mr. Paul E. Slone, age 90, of Grayson, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday morning, February 26, 2019, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
He was born May 6, 1928, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Jesse and Eliza Marshall Slone.
Paul was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grayson and formerly attended Maranatha Bible Church in Webbville, Kentucky, along with his wife. He was retired from Boilermakers Local 667 in Winfield, West Virginia, and was a member of the Grayson Trimble Lodge 145 F and AM. Paul enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, loafing, watching U.K. Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Helen Louise Ratcliff Slone; one daughter, Beverly Smith; and one brother, Billy Jack Slone.
Paul is survived by one son, Richard Slone (Patsy); one daughter, Barbara Rice (Ron); six grandchildren, Jeff Rice (Brooke), Amy Smith (Jim Robinson), Kerri Martin (Dale), Alia Cain (Tyler), Adrienne Lubert (Kyle), and Adam Slone; 12 great grandchildren, Lyndsey Hearn (Eric), Cameron Elizabeth Rice, Olivia Martin, Lafe O’Bryan, Nicholas Porter, Ian Rice, Elaina Martin, Lilly Porter, Samuel Martin, Mahaila Lubert, Karoline Cain, and Nora Cain; one brother, John Slone; and one son-in-law, Jerry Smith. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Grayson, Kentucky with Brother Josh Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carter Memory Gardens Cemetery in Grayson, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019, and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 49 McCoy Road, Grayson, Kentucky 41143. A masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2019, by the Grayson Trimble Lodge 145 F and AM.
David Slone, Greg Slone, Jeff Slone, Jerry Smith, Nicholas Porter, Ian Rice, Tyler Cain, Dale Martin, and Adam Slone will serve as pallbearers.
