Margaret Edenfield Broadrick, age 99, passed away on April 15, 2015, at Brandywine Senior Living in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Margaret was born on November 7, 1915, in Metter, Georgia, to Homer and Maggie (Morgan) Edenfield.

Margaret grew up in Metter, Georgia, and graduated from Metter High School, Candler County, Georgia, in 1933. She studied to be a secretary at the G.A.B. School of Commerce in Macon, Georgia, where she received a diploma on April 10, 1936. On March 1, 1937, Margaret began working for the IRS in Atlanta, Georgia, as a clerk/typist/stenographer. She also worked for many years as a secretary at Cascade Methodist Church, Atlanta Georgia. She later worked for the state of Georgia in the Department of Family and Children Services.

Margaret married John Stephen Broadrick in 1940, in Atlanta, Georgia. They were very happily married for fifty-two years. She often remarked that the happiest events in her life were moving to Atlanta, meeting and marrying Steve, the birth of son, John, and the births of her granddaughters.

Margaret was a member of Cascade Methodist Church, Atlanta, Georgia. She was later a member of Embry Hills United Methodist Church in Chamblee, GA.

Among Margaret's many interests, gardening comes first to mind. She loved visiting beautiful gardens and working in her yard. She cared for her many azaleas, roses, fig and apple trees, grape arbor, and various flowering plants and shrubs. She received many Yard of the Month awards from the Ladies of King's Row. Margaret also enjoyed traveling with Steve on Delta Airlines.

How we will best remember Margaret will be the many ways she showed her love for family and friends. Her loving care of Steve showed her strength, determination, and independence. She created and kept a beautiful home where she enjoyed entertaining. Margaret loved to cook and share her favorite recipes. Even after moving to senior living, she continued to bake cakes to welcome new residents. She took good care of her treasured possessions and loved to pass them on to her son, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren. Margaret loved to share stories of her childhood growing up on the farm in Metter.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Maggie (Morgan) Edenfield; husband, John Stephen Broadrick; sisters Cleo Edenfield, Jessie Mae Cartee, Susan Clarice Bird, Jewel Edenfield, Frances Louise Bowen, Betty Jean Edenfield; and brothers Elton Herbert Edenfield, Linton Harold Edenfield, and Delmas Coy Edenfield.

Margaret always said the secret to her long life was, "Keep moving!!!"

A private memorial service will be held at a date and time to be announced to family.
