Walter Legate, 84 of Lexington, Missouri passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.

A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 S. St., Lexington, MO, 64067, 660-259-2245. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, February, 26, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Walter was born on December 21, 1934 in Lexington, MO to Thomas and Sally (Jennings) Legate. He graduated in 1953 from Lexington High School. He served in the United States Army from August 7, 1957 until being honorably discharged. Walter earned the Good Conduct Medal. He married Nancy Louise (Schroeder) Legate on December 4, 1953 in Lexington, MO. She survives of the home. He worked at Vendo for 20 plus years and retired from Bendix Allied Signal in Kansas City, MO. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Walter enjoyed fishing, traveling, coaching little league baseball, and helping with the Scouts. He was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.

Survivors include Walter's wife Nancy of Lexington, MO; three children, Karen Carter and husband Phillip of Harrisonville, MO, David Legate and wife Merrin of Dallas, Texas and Gary Legate and wife Barb of Lee's Summit, MO; seven grandchildren, Pamela, Lauren, Christina, Austin, Laine, Levi and Brenna; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
