Great Aunt Tillie Reineke Goulden was born in Butler, Illinois the 7th child of Wilhelm and Anna Reineke. Her parents came to America from Hannover, Germany in 1857 through the port of New Orleans and settled in Raymond, Montgomery County, IL. There they farmed and raised Fred (Fritz-born in Germany), Anna (Born in Germany), William who died several years after he was born), Clara (who married Judge Henry Dalton), Henry, Cena Alice (who married Lewis Turner Hutchinson), Mary (who also died young), Matilda, and George.
Matilda was like all of the Reineke women. They didn't quite tell the truth when it came to their age. The 1870 & 1880 Census' show that she was born abt. 1867 instead of 1873 as her death certificate and the headstone show.
My Mother always said she had the most beautiful red hair, which runs in our family to this day.
How Matilda got to Missouri and married James, I am not sure. But they had a long life together starting in Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota, North Dakota, and then back to Missouri.Wife of James Golden.

Her death certificate states she was buried at Union Home cemetery. Informant was Lacy Randleman of Buffalo., MO.
