Jack "Boomer" Allen of Meco passed away suddenly Tuesday February 5, 2019 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born in Johnstown on May 7, 1932, the son of the late Frank Allen, Sr. and Rose Hesek Allen.

He was employed at Gillmore Oil Co. until serving in the US Army in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954, where he received the commendation ribbon and the Metal Pendant. He was honorably discharged in October 1954.

He was Co-Owner of Allen Bros Motors AMC Dealership with his late brother William Allen.

Jack enjoyed going to the stock car races in Fonda, NY and watching The Winston Cup races on weekends. In his later years he and his wife traveled doing craft fairs.

He was a member of the North Main United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Meco Volunteer Fire Department, Bleecker Fish and Game Club, and the Concordia Club.

On August 22, 1954 he married Joan Ruff and settled in Meco in 1958. They celebrated 64 years of marriage together.

He is survived by his wife Joan and two daughters; Bonnie Oathout (Roger) and Lori Coon (Gregory) both residing in Meco, four grandchildren; Chad Oathout (Katie), Melissa Cosselman (Steven), Christine Rose (Troy) and Stacey Ketchum (Michael), six great-grandchildren; Bradley Oathout, Brayden Ketchum, Taylor Cosselman, Dominick Oathout, Arianna Rose, Alexandra Cosselman and #7 "baby Ketchum" due April 2019, along with his two brothers; Raymond Allen (Fay) of Caroga Lake and Thomas Allen of Johnstown and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

In addition to both his parents, Boomer was predeceased by his brothers; Frank Jr., Joseph, Richard, William, and two sisters; Mary Foster and Theresa Felthousen.

Interment will take place at that time at the convenience of the family.
