William "Bill" Allen, 80, of Mayfield, passed away on Tuesday, November, 11, 2014, at St. Peters Hospital, Albany.
He was born on April, 18, 1934, to the late Frank Allen Sr. and Rose Hesek Allen. On May 11, 1963, he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 51 years, Paula Palkovic Allen. Bill was a 1953 graduate of Johnstown High School. He was a veteran of the Army and served as an MP from 1956 to 1958, doing duty in Hawaii. Bill also served in the Army Reserves from 1958 to 1962. He was employed at Knox Gelatine and co-owner of Allen Bros. Motors AMC dealership.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Paula; a son, William Allen Jr. (Kerri); a daughter, Katherine Allen Kuleba (Theodore); his grandchildren, Zachary Garrett and Noel Therese Allen, Annika Josephine and Ilka-Marie Ruth Kuleba, all of North Carolina; brothers, Raymond Allen (Faye) of Caroga Lake, Jack "Boomer" Allen (Joan) of Meco, Richard Allen (Adrienne) and Thomas Allen; sisters-in-law, Josephine Palkovic Opitz and Mary Allen, all of Johnstown. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was predeceased by not only his parents; but also brothers, Frank Allen Jr. and Joseph Allen; sisters, Mary Allen Foster and Theresa Allen Felthousen.
It was Bill's wish to have no formal viewing or services. A private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
