She married Joseph W. Barrett

She and Joe married Barrett on December 26,1884 in Dekalb County, TN.
Mary was the daughter of William Barrett and Rachel (Paralee) FritzPatrick Barrett.
William (Grandpa Billy) and Paralee had 5 children, Mary, John, Joe, Ruth and William.
John Barrett (Joseph W. Barrett's -brother-in-law) was a bachelor, he later came to live with his sister Mary Barrett.
Mary and Joe lived in the same community of Pea Ridge, as our other Barretts. Their five children were.

Joe was a farmer like his father has been after the war. Joe died at an early age of 35..only two months before the birth of his last child Jo Anna. His death was caused from complications of having the MEasles.
Mary Barrett Barrett is buried at the OVERALL CEMETERY.
She does not have a marker/rock
At Joe's death, Mary was left with five small children under the age of 12 years old. Her brother, the bachelor, John Barrett, came into their home and served as a substitute father and helped in rearing the children.
The Barrett home was high on a hill. It was truly unique in that it had a spring flowing under the house.
Canned and preserved goods made the family almost self-sufficient with the exception of coffee and salt.
The children, especially JoAnn, as a child attended the Goggins School. It was one and one-half miles from where she lived. School was only in session four months a year, and they had to walk and wade across the creek.
