Frenchie was the ninth born to the Correia family. Both of his parents had immigrated from Madeira Island and had met and married in Hawaii before coming to Washington Territory in 1889 and building their homestead. The children were all born and raised near Blyn. His mother was extremely nurturing and loving, but his father was hot-tempered and restless, and after he fathered twelve children, finally left to go to Virginia, where he married another woman from Madeira Island and fathered eight more.

After Frenchie grew up and got married to Violet Johnson, he took his bride to Virginia and found his father. He was hoping to rebuild a relationship with him. Unfortunately, his father was abusive to that family as well. He was able to bond with his half-siblings, but not his father.

Frenchie and Vi had no children. They lived on Camano Island in Washington state, until Vi died in 1983, and then he lived with his sister Virginia in Kirkland until he died Thanksgiving weekend in 1994.
