Christina was the oldest daughter of Manuel and Joaquina Gonçalves, who emigrated together with her sisters from Madeira to Hawaii in 1883. She met her husband, Manuel Correia at the Spreckles Sugar Plantation and they were married in Hilo, Hawaii in 1888.

Christina and her husband moved inland and took a homestead in Blyn in 1889 and raised a large family of 12 children: Mary, Nellie, Joe, Isabell, Virginia, Jenny, Christine, Hazel, Frenchie, James, John (stillborn), and Irene. Her parents and younger sisters: Isabel, Virginia, and Elizabeth also moved to Blyn, Washington, and one sister (Mary) remained in Hawaii.

Christina was known to be a loving, devoted, resourceful mother and grandmother. She farmed and took care of the children and grandchildren.

She died on Mother's Day in May of 1938 while at her son Frenchie's house.
