She was born on September 28, 1930 in Mole Hill (now Mountain), WV, a daughter of the late George and Daisy P. (Lake) Burg.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Harry R. (Jack) Davis on July 15, 2014; her parents and one brother, Richard Burg.
Surviving are one son, Roger Linn Davis; one daughter, Karen Renay Davis Sickler Kline Hurst and husband, Stephen; two grandsons, William Jefferson Davis and Zachary Lane Sickler; one great-granddaughter, Teghan Johnnie Sickler; and two sisters, Gladys Ventura and Maryanne Weekly.
Esther was a graduate of Shinnston High School, and worked as an office assistant for The Monongahela Power Company and The National Carbon prior to her marriage to Jack. She taught kindergarten at the United Methodist Temple in Clarksburg and was otherwise a stay-at-home mom until both of her children entered grade school. She then worked as an office manager for various business in Clarksburg including Lerner Shops, JCPenney, and Clinchfield Coal Company. She also worked as a financial assistant for Community Bank & Trust and the certified public accounting firm of Meredith, Quinn & Stenger. Her work in the community allowed Esther to form life-long friendships with many of those she met. Despite working outside of the home, Esther always placed her two children, husband, and extended family above all else. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and traveling extensively around the entire USA with her husband.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 9 until 10:30am. Funeral services will be conducted at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at 11am. Entombment will follow. The family has entrusted the care and final arrangements for Esther to the Davis-Weaver Funeral in Clarksburg.
