LADONNA GAY BENNETT, 70, went to be with HER LORD AND SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST, on FEBRUARY 3, 2019. She was born on September 2, 1948 in Bentonville, AR to Robert and Roberta Whybrew. She attended several schools and graduated from Buena High School in Sierra Vista, AZ in 1967. She met Larry a year later and they began dating during the summer of 1968. Their relationship grew stronger and she decided to attend Bethany Nazarene College in the fall of Larry’s senior year. They were engaged on Valentine’s Day in 1968 at the annual Heart Pal Banquet. They married on July 19, 1968 in Sierra Vista, AZ. They moved to Irving, TX in 1971. Their first child, Robbie, was born September 3, 1972. Followed by the birth of their second child, Brian, on August 7, 1978. They lived in Irving, TX for 30 years. They attended Faith Church of the Nazarene where Ladonna was the church pianist for the entire time. Ladonna loved music and that became her ministry. She was so dedicated to the church, she rarely missed more than 4 Sundays a year. She was also very involved in women’s and youth ministry.

In June of 2001, they moved to Oklahoma City to be near their children and grandchildren. They soon found a new church home at Oklahoma City First Church of the Nazarene where they became an integral part of ministry there. On October 30, 2016, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She began treatment immediately and for 2 years she did well. On December 11, 2018, she had a major stroke. The stroke plus advancement of the tumor was too severe to overcome.

Ladonna lived her life showing the love of Jesus to everyone she met. She had a welcoming smile that would light up any room and a great sense of humor. She had a way of making everyone feel comfortable in her home, at church or wherever she met them. She had the gift of encouragement. If she knew of someone in need, she would step in and show kindness and compassion and try to make a difference. Her example of loving others was the greatest gift she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Now she is rejoicing in the arms of Jesus.
