Gerald R. 'Russ' Hawk, Sr., age 82 of Lima, passed at 11:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in Lima; He was born to the late John Andrew and Lenna G. Hefner Hawk. On March 12, 1960 he married Carla Jean Wilkerson, who died March 8, 2009.

Mr. Hawk was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran. He started his working career at Superior Coach Corporation and retired from General Dynamics. Because he liked 'working like a dog' he continued working as a custodian at Apollo Joint Vocational School. His hobbies included fishing and hunting, he enjoyed the County Fair and especially the horse races. He will be fondly remembered for his ornery nature and his love of life.

He is survived by 2 sons - Gerald R. 'Jerry' (Michelle) Hawk, Jr. of Whitehouse, TN; Charles L. Hawk of Lima; a daughter - Cindy (Jack) Stevenson of Lima; 4 grandchildren - Joshua (Ashley) Stevenson of Lima; Jon (Caitlyn) Stevenson of Columbus; Donna Stevenson of Florida; Tori Hawk of TN; 2 great grandchildren - Isabella Rose Stevenson and Ellie Mae Stevenson; 2 sisters - Mary Barber of Lima; Katherine (George) Herron of Rockport; a sister-in-law - Betty Hawk of Lima; and a brother-in-law - Ronald Wilkerson of Elida.

He was preceded in death by siblings - Helen Lawrence, Mildred Servis, Jacob Hawk, Oliver Hawk, Dick Hawk, Bert Holt, Dertha Hawk, Margaret Hawk, John 'Jr' Hawk, Dee Hawk, and Ada Tussing.

A celebration of life will begin 4:00 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2019 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, with a time of sharing stories and memories followed by military rites.
