David M. Dover 62, of Cherokee, died March 5th (1988) in Asheville Hospital.
A native of York County, S.C. , he had been a resident of Cherokee for the past 45 years.
He was a veteran of WWII and a retired craftsman
He was the husband of the late Lula Belle Murphy Dover and the son of the late Tommie and Rachel Dover.
Surviving are four sons, Joseph Dover of Bryson City, Jesse and Henry Dover, both of Cherokee, and Ray Dover of Hazelwood; four daughters, Lillian Dement of Portland ,
Ore., Hazel Kirtland of Bryson City and Shirley Page and Betty Dover, both of Cherokee; two brothers Avery and Charlie Dover both of Clover, S.C., Four sisters, Thelma Cabe and Ruby Horton of York, S.C, Martha Durbin and Nancy Chappell of Clover, S.C.,24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday March 7th at Bethabara Baptist Church of which he was a member. The Revs James Parris and Jim Parker officiated. Burial was in the Birdland cemetery.
