Ernest 'Pete' Swafford, 84, passed away Memorial Day, May 28, 2007 in Yukon, Oklahoma. He was born April 15, 1923 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Welcome David and Electra (Freeland) Swafford. He was united in marriage to Mary Beatrice Thompson on May 31, 1942. He retired from Star Manufacturing after 41 years. Pete served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. St. Lo during WWII. He enjoyed driving in the country, raising cattle, and watching all sports, especially OU. He was a deacon and longtime member of Capitol Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Beatrice; one son, David Swafford and wife Cherry; one daughter, Mary Ann DeMoe and husband Dennis; one brother, William Swafford and wife Margie; five granddaughters; and 14 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters, one grandson, and one great-grandson. Memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Fund, c/o Capitol Hill Baptist Church, 304 SW 134th, Moore, OK 73170. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 31, 2007 in the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
