Mrs. Lynch was born Aug. 11, 1921, in Sibley, the daughter of Calvin Thompson and Sarah Galmore Thompson.

She was educated in the Adams County school system. She was a homemaker and was retired as a housekeeper.
Mrs. Lynch was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church where she served on the mother's board, church secretary, member of the choir, the missionary society and the cemetery club. She was also a member of the Homemakers Club, PTA president and 4-H Club youth leader. She enjoyed arts and crafts, quilting, traveling and flower gardening.
Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Lynch Sr.; one son, James Lynch Jr.; one daughter, Mamie Lynch; two grandsons, Cornelius Rice and Carlos Johnson; two sons-in-law, Andrew Davis and Coy Phipps; one sister, Ethel Henderson; and five brothers, Calvin, Benjamin, Anderson, James and Joseph Thompson.

Survivors include six daughters, Mary VanManon of Houston, Polly Rice and husband, Willie, of Jackson, Ollie Davis and husband, James, of Oakland, Calif., Roberta Davis of Little Rock, Ark., Mattie Phipps of Vidalia, and Pearlie Yarborough and husband, Edison, of Brunswick, Ga.; surrogate son, Jake Lynch and wife, Alke, of Compton, Calif.; goddaughter, Tarsha Thomas of Houston; one sister, Clara Martin; three sisters-in-law, Edna Phipps, Dorothy Thompson, both of Natchez, and Doris Thompson of Houston; a devoted and longtime friend, Dorothy Whittley; and a number of other relatives and friends.
