Ratliff City – Memorial Services for Mr. Hughie Joe Fletcher, 82, of Comanche are scheduled for 6:00 PM Tuesday June 21, 2011 at the Ratliff City First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating.
Hughie Joe, better known to most as Soapy, was born October 5, 1928 at Walters, OK to the late Mr. Thomas Hughie and Mrs. Jossie Matilda (Lucas) Fletcher. He departed this life at his home in Comanche on Wed. June 15, 2011.
Hughie was reared at the Cement and Walters area, moving to Countyline in 1942. He was employed as a Carpenter, most of his working years and also owned and operated Hugh's DX Gas Station in Pruitt City for many years.
Hughie Joe built several Churches in the area and was known as a carpenter who built things to last. He was a very talented musician all of his life, having perfect pitch. He was very proud of his 1948 Martin Guitar that had been in his possession since the early 50's. Hughie was a man of great faith and loved and depended upon God for his every need and want.
Preceding him in death are his Parents, 2 Sons, Ronnie and Larry, 2 Grandsons; Waylon Joe and John Forest. Brothers, Clifford, Don, Clinton, Benny and Jerry Fletcher.
Survivors include a Daughter, Vicki McNeely and husband William of Lone Grove. Son Randy Fletcher of Pernell. Brothers, Ralph Fletcher of Meridian and Kenneth Fletcher and wife Johnnie of Graham. 10 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. Numerous other family and friends.
