RALEIGH -- John Henry Hopkins, 93, was called home to be with his Lord on Tuesday morning. He joins his devoted wife, Johnnie Belle Woodruff, to whom he was married 66 years. John spent his life as a successful farmer and businessman in Raleigh before moving to Camdenton, MO in 2000, to live with his son, Don. Along with farming, raising cattle and running a service station and Laundromat. John was a long-time member and Deacon at Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Raleigh.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Bryan -- Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh.

Surviving are: his son, Donald Hopkins and his wife, Eleanor of Camdenton, MO; granddaughters, Terri Hemmerling and Scotti Oelklaus, both of Kansas City, MO, Traci Chilton, and great-grandchildren, Caroline and Matthew Chilton, all of China Grove, NC; brothers, Harley Hopkins of Wendell, Royal Bearton Hopkins, Fredrick Hopkins, both of Knightdale; sisters, Mildred Wall of Garner and Garnetta Pearce of Wendell.

"Papa John" was preceded in death by his wife, "MamaBelle", his sisters, Sybil Ellis and Erdis Hunkins and brother, Thomas Alison Hopkins.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.

John Henry Hopkins lived a long life of hard work and devotion to God. May he rest in the open arms of his Lord, knowing that he is loved and will be missed.
